There’s an element of irony in starting a tech blog in 2025 when you’ve been in and around the subject matter for well over a decade. Ultimately, the driving force is that I miss human-written, thoughtful content more than ever. If I can make a 0.000000001% dent in the “AI-generated slop” people post willy-nilly, then great.
I won’t make any grand promises about writing a blog post every n days. I will, however, share content and experiences that I’ve found useful. When I stumble upon a person’s blog, I can quickly fall down a rabbit hole: “What else have they written about?” “Who are they and how can I follow them?” I sincerely hope this blog does the same for you.
It was reassuring that when I Googled “jekyll umami” the other day (looking to add some analytics to this site), the first two results were individuals’ blogs. And long may this experience continue.
Whilst I’d like to think I’m quite good at spotting AI-generated content these days, it’s getting more difficult. And it often feels like “I’ve been reading this for 2 mins and feel ZERO nourishment”. Like a negative-calorie meal. A timely reminder that it’s possible to say a shit ton of words whilst ultimately saying nothing.
What I’ll be writing about
I spend my free time working on macOS with WezTerm and Neovim, creating and maintaining my Neovim plugins. This is likely how you’ve come across this blog. I expect the majority of content on the blog will be focussed on productivity and automation tips. But I will also be sharing my observations about the modern-day world as AI begins to take hold.
